I don't have any ready explanations for why this happened, only suppositions. However, the latest branches that have been submitted take great pains to avoid creating CouchDB revisions unless absolutely necessary.

I'll keep looking at this, and I'd like to see if it's possible to reproduce under the new code branches.

Guillermo, have you seen anything like this since compacting your CouchDB? I haven't seen this reported in the wild of late, and haven't seen this myself, having run FF with Bindwood consistently for quite a long while.

I have a 3,8 GB file on a Lucid installation and a 1.4GB on a Maverick installation.

Comment #3 mentions Compaction. How would that be done?

Just had to deal with a 35+ GB file on my Lucid machine - compaction brought this down to under 1 GB (still pretty large, but more manageable...)

Wouldn't it be possible to alleviate the runaway growth of bookmarks.couch by automatically compacting it (weekly? monthly?)

I have 2.8 on 11.10 but my home dir has been copied from older installations. Is it safe to remove bookmarks.couch? What is it?
