I have tried preliminary kde 3.4 from debian maintainers
(http://pkg-kde.alioth.debian.org/kde-3.4.0/) and have the same bug.

As a temporary workaround I have found on the net that deleting the
/var/tmp/kdecache-username directory seems to solve the problem.
So, I have added 'rm -rf /var/tmp/kdecache-*' at the beginning of
/etc/kde3/kdm/Xstartup and it works.
