What does "does not work" mean exactly? The option will drop the
resource conflict message to a warning (so it does not show up on
the console) and allow the smbus driver to bind. You will still see
the warning in dmesg.
And for fixing this, I try to gather data from different systems
that are affected, to see whether there is a pattern to it.
